Airlift is based on true events and is set in Kuwait pre and during the 1990 Gulf War. The film will be shot in Mumbai, Ras Al Khaimah and Bhuj amongst other locations and each location is chosen in order to accurately replicate the era and topography of the locales that the film is set in.Airlift is the never told true story of the world’s largest civilian evacuation in which more than 170,000 Indians were evacuated from war-torn Kuwait. Akshay Kumar plays Ranjit Katyal who masterminds, coordinates and leads this operation against all odds and in the wake of great personal sacrifice. Nimrat Kaur’s character in Airlift is a much loved woman enjoying a privileged life in an opulent mansion.
