Alia Bhatt and her American Debut

From the top charts in Bollywood to the top charts in Hollywood, Alia Bhatt is making her American debut. The movie “Heart of Stone” has risen in the ranks to number 1 in the Netflix USA Top 10. Starring alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan, Bhatt’s role in the movie wasn’t as sizable as the ones she has been used to, but it was still pivotal. The actress said she was happy to go into a supporting role that had substance to it.

Opening with an action-packed scene, the Netflix original looks like the start to a new spy franchise as it follows Gadot’s character Rachel Stone, a rookie undercover intelligence agent, as she travels across the globe for a mission. She eventually learns there is a bigger threat at large that is aiming to hijack a quantum computer known as “The Heart” that is used by her organization.

With all the action, it’s hard to believe that Bhatt was pregnant during filming, but the stunt doubles and the effects did their job well. Between her American debut, having her first child, working on internationally acclaimed film RRR, as well as attending her first Met Gala, being named the first Indian house ambassador for Gucci, and working on producing, it has been quite an impressive year for the actress.

However, it hasn’t been all glitter and sparkles for the Bollywood star recently. There have been a lot of negative reviews on her performance in this new movie. Audiences are claiming that the movie is a wannabe Mission Impossible and doesn’t have any authenticity about it. Critics are sayings that they are disappointed in Bhatt’s role and said her prior works were better.

With this being her first film in the US, it hasn’t been confirmed that Bhatt will continue working in the industry like Bollywood turned Hollywood star Priyanka Chopra Jonas did. However, if she does come back to the American screen, fans are hoping she will have a better run at it in the future.
