Amazon Investing $26 Billion in India
One of the biggest global retailers, Amazon said it will invest $26 billion in India by 2030. It has previously invested $11 billion in India and plans to add to it in the next seven years. This announcement comes after the company’s CEO Andy Jassy met with Prime Minister Modi during his trip to the United States. Last month, the e-commerce group said it plans to invest $12.7 billion into the cloud business.
In a Tweet, the CEO said that he hopes the collaboration will create jobs and economically boost both the country and the company.
Google has also said that it is going to open a global fintech operation center in Gujarat. They are working to support GPay, Google’s payment service, along with other product operations.
Along with Amazon, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that they are committed to investing $10 billion in the India digitization fund. During the rest of Modi’s USA trip, he met with other big tech companies including Apple and Microsoft.
