“Bollywood” makes FORBES list.
Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni are among the world’s 100 highest-paid celebrities, according to the Forbes’ annual list.
Breaking into the elite global club, Bachchan and Salman are tied for the 71st rank with earnings of US$33.5 million (RM126.4 million) each.
Coming in at the 76th spot is Akshay with earnings of US$32.5 million. Dhoni is ranked 82nd with earnings of US$31 million.
Notably neither India’s biggest superstar Shah Rukh Khan, nor any woman celebrity from the country has made it to the list.
The list’s top spot went to American boxer Floyd Mayweather.
Forbes, which has been releasing the Celeb 100 list every year since 1999, said given the profound changes in the entertainment world, it changed its methodology and for the first time, made the list “truly international”.
“Instead of using US-centric power metrics, we’re simply ranking the world’s 100 highest-paid celebrities, regardless of nationality.”
