Hollywood Director Reviews Bollywood Film ‘Dobaara’
The upcoming Bollywood feature film “Dobaara” scheduled to release on June 2nd, 2017 is the official Hindi adaptation of the 2013 acclaimed psychological horror flim “Oculus“. A special screening of Dobaara was kept for the Oculus producer Trevor Macy and Director Mike Flanagan in Los Angeles. Also present at the screening were Director of Dobaara, Prawaal Raman, Debutant actress Madalina Bellariu Ion and North America Distribution Head for B4U Movies – Jatin Grover.
Post the screening Mike Flanagan gave Dobaara a big thumbs up and recommends everyone who has seen Oculus to go see Dobaara as it provides a fresh take of the film with added elements. Flanagan was very pleased with the production and sound and casting of the film. He was happy and hoped to see and be a part of such collaborations between Hollywood and Hindi Films Industry in the future. This would be the first time in history that a Hollywood remake in Hindi was officially screened for the original creators and they are named as Executive Producers of the official remake.
The film is an emotional journey of Natasha Merchant (Huma) and Kabeer Merchant (Saqib) dealing with the death of their parents, Alex Merchant (Adil Hussain) and Lisa Merchant (Lisa Ray) a decade ago . Natasha believes that it’s the paranormal mirror which is responsible for their deaths and is adamant to prove her brother’s innocence to the world, who has been in a juvenile correctional facility for 10 years, as an accused in the murder of his parents.
The only thing on her mind, as the brother comes out of the correctional facility, after a decade, is to redeem him of the crime and prove that it’s the mirror which has caused the deaths. Kabeer does not agree with his sister Natasha’s theory and believes that he killed his father while saving themselves.
Join the Merchant family on a revelation through time as we alternate between the past and the present to uncover the truth. Illusions, bizarre occurrences and the presence of someone in Alex’s study certainly cast doubt on the credibility of the mirror. Alex’s alleged affair with Ana, a seductive and passionate woman in his study, who convinces Alex that he is capable of accomplishing a lot but being held back by his incompetent family – and Lisa’s resolve to protect her children through his phases of madness – are these the signs of a dysfunctional family or a haunted mirror wreaking havoc in their lives?
Witness a world where the past and the present merge, a paranormal world where the brother and sister are gradually trapped, a world of deception where the illusion and reality cease to be any different. It’s an experiment where the paranormal takes charge defying science or any logic.
Sometimes the past is best left undisturbed, untouched and in the past. But then again… Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
