The app is created keeping the younger generation in mind, who mostly spent lot of their time chatting or texting on the phone. The app is called ‘Hooked’ and it features short fiction for young-adult readers.
Gupta said that 80% of young-adult novels are read digitally. So the teen-set seemed like the most natural audience or what Gupta calls the ‘snapchat generation’.
Keeping the attention span, each book in the app will be roughly 1,000 words and is designed to be read in about five minutes. The stories will be told entirely through dialogue and read like texts; messages show up on screen similar to any other text you receive. Hooked will let you read one story a day for free, but users who can’t do enough with one story there will be an option to have a subscription to the app. Subscription to Hooked will give you unlimited access by charging you anywhere between $3 a week and $40 a year.
