Jennifer Kupcho makes history at Augusta

Jennifer Kupcho accomplished a very important first for women’s golf on Saturday. She won the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, a tournament that marks the first time women have been been allowed to play competitively on the world-famous golf course.

Kupcho finished at -10, and managed to hold off a front-nine surge from her playing partner Maria Fassi in Saturday’s final round. Fassi, who finished at -6, had a two-stroke lead through the first nine after hitting four pars and four birdies and recovering from a bogey on the first hole.

But Kupcho pulled out an amazing performance on the back nine to claim the title, and she did it while fighting a migraine. According to USA Today, Kupcho’s migraine was so bad that her vision was blurry during holes 8-11, and her caddy had to help her read putts.

But she played through the pain. After her vision had cleared, she nailed this impressive eagle on No. 13.
