Manoj Bajpayee’s advise to “students on film”
Many students are often torn between choosing their dream college and the subject of their choice. However, actor Manoj Bajpayee, who is an alumnus of Ramjas College in Delhi University, says that it is important to always stick to studying something that you are passionate about.
“This is a very critical time in a student’s life. It is important that if they are faced with a situation in which they have to choose between a college with a higher ranking and their favourite subject, they must go with their subject. The reputation of your college has nothing to do with the way your career shapes up. If you like a subject and you are getting to study it, then just take it up,” says Bajpayee
The veteran Actor says that it is very important to excel at whatever you take up in college. “Whatever you decide to do in college, you must make it a point to be the best in that. I was involved in the dramatics society in college and I used to do well there. There were other students, who were good in their respective subjects, and they would be popular for that, too. It is important to choose something that you are passionate about; don’t choose something because of peer pressure,”
Bajpayee also recalls how he and his friends would often go to Miranda House to check out the girls there. “It used be our regular hangout. We would try to meet the girls there. When I went there for my film Special 26, I was so nostalgic. We sat in the same canteen, where we were not even allowed to sit as students … …My only intention was to finish graduation with flying colors as I wanted to get into NSD (National School of Drama).”
Talking about the first day in college, he says, “The hustle-bustle of the first day is always something to look forward to. The running around, excitement of making new friends … it is all fantastic.”
