‘Masaan’ wins at Cannes.

Neeraj Ghaywan’s ‘Masaan’ starring Richa Chadha, Shweta Tripathi, Vicky Kaushal and Sanjay Mishra has won at the Cannes International Film Festival in the unCertain Regard Category.

‘Masaan’ was screened at the festival on May 19, following which, it received a five-minute long standing ovation and ‘unstoppable applause’ from the viewers at the gala. The film has won the FIPRESCI award at the festival this year. The FIPRESCI awards are given out by the International Federation of Film Critics, for the promotion and development of film culture and for the safeguarding of professional interests.

Director Neeraj Ghaywan took to Social Media tweeting out:
“#MASAAN just won the FIPRESCI award for UN CERTAIN REGARD at @Festival_Cannes!!!!! This was long due for India!!!”
