Satish Kaushik sets to take on Indian TV
Bollywood Actor Satish Kaushik has been entertaining his fans for over three decades and has popularized several characters such as “Calender” from the film ‘Mr India’ and ‘Pappu Pager’ from “Deewana Mastana”.
Now, the veteran Actos aims to do the same on the small screen, with his comeback role in the new show, ‘Sumit Sambhal Lega’. This serial will mark his return to the tube after 16 years.

“When they approached me for the show, I hadn’t even seen Everybody Loves Raymond. But then I watched some episodes, and realised that the part offered to me was good. It wasn’t the central character, but Jasbir Walia (Kaushik’s character) is Sumit’s father. My character is that of a typical Delhiite, who constantly quarrels with his children, fights with his wife and creates unrest in the neighbourhood. But he is actually a lovable person. My only aim is to make the character memorable,” – said Kaushik
Ask him about returning to the small screen after a long gap, and he says, “I did the show because it is based on a hit American programme.
TV is growing exponentially. I had a feeling that this show would be good. Being back on TV took me back to my theatre days. It was a good decision to take up this show, and I am happy.”
At the same time, Kaushik is looking at some direction options as well. He wants to direct a finite television series, and even has some ideas for the same. “I would love to. It could be a dramatic family show. I have pitched something to a few channels, let’s see how that works out,” he says.
