Mohapatra’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection was recently released during New York Fashion Week and features a wide variety of women’s luxury garments. Most of the designs are dresses or skirts, each unique but true to Mohapatra’s overarching vision. He focuses on making the consumer feel powerful and elegant in the clothing they wear for each and every occasion. Bright colors and Indian textiles are what tie the garments and Indian culture together. Rich reds and silky yellows are incorporated into each collection, where red is a symbolism of purity in Indian culture. Both colors are paired frequently throughout his collections to create a contrasting effect.

For this collection in particular, Mohapatra worked in collaboration with Janavi India, a women-led scarf brand based in New Delhi, India. This created contemporary and elegant driven looks as both brands have similar customer bases and fashion aesthetics. Overall, the designs were well crafted, including a cohesive color palette that ties perfectly with the cashmere scarves, each uniquely created for each individual look. The collection features thirty-seven different outfits with the use of embellishments and black lace for many of them. Mohapatra creates a different story for each of the garments, enhancing different features on the consumer or illustrating a specific silhouette.
