Bollywood has made it to Guinness world records

Largest annual film output:
It is a well known fact that there no other film industry than Bollywood who has hold this record for years.

“India is the world’s most prolific film-making nation, with approximately 800 to 1,000 feature films being produced each year by Bollywood film industry, based in Mumbai. In 2011, a total of 1,255 films were produced in India, in 24 different languages.”

Highest-earning Bollywood star – Male:
It was none other than Shah Rukh Khan making it on the too is the list making 3700600000

“Topping the Forbes list as the highest-earning Bollywood actor is Shah Rukh Khan (IND), with estimated earnings in 2013 of 220.5 crore (2.2 bn rupees; £22.08 m; $37.06 m).”

Highest-earning Bollywood star – Female:
Katrina Kaif broke record being the highest-earning female Bollywood star earning $10,700,000 in 2013

“Katrina Kaif (UK) was the highest-earning Bollywood actress of 2013, with earning of 63.75 crore (637 m rupees; £6.37m; $10.7 m).”

Longest Bollywood career actor:
P. Jairaj, who made his debut in 1929, has has an acting career spanning 70 yrs. Although he has acted in more than 300 films, he is better known character roles than as a lead.

Longest career as a Bollywood actress:
Lalita Pawar took the record by having the longest film acting career who acted continuously for 70 years. She made her debut at the age of 12 and appeared in more than 700 films.

Longest Bollywood career in leading roles:
Ashok Kumar who is affectionately known as Dadamoni, had been acting continuously for 63 years. He made his movie debut in Jeevan Naiya in 1936. A three-time winner of the Filmfare Best Actor award, his most famous and first anti-hero role was in Kismet (1943) broke all the existing box office records and became the first Hindi movie to gross 1crore at the box office.

Largest Bollywood Dance:
This record was for the greatest number of people simultaneously performing a “Bollywood” dance. 4,428 people Bollywood dance was achieved by Zer Entertainment Enterprise Ltd – Dance India Danve show at the Somaiyya College in Mumbai on March 1st, 2012. Majority of the participants were school students.

Highest box-office gross for Bollywood Film:
Dhoom 3, staring Amir Khan broke a Indian box-office records following it’s release in December 2013. The Film earned a total of 5.33 billion INR ($88,031,955; £51,894,540) worldwide. By May 2014 the total earnings was twice as much as the total grossed internationally by the pervious record holder, 2013’s Chennai Express.

Largest screen family Bollywood:
It is no a surprise that the Kapoor Extended Family holds this records for years. 24 members of the Kapoor extended family have acted in films since Prithviraj Kapoor first took to the screen in 1929. He was followed into acting by his 3 sons, Raj, Shammi and Shashi and other relatives through marriage. Other famous relatives through marriage include to star Amitabh Bachchan, Directors Ramesh Sippy and Manmohan Desai, and Shashis sister-in-law who is British actress Felicity Kendall. One of the Bollywood’s current leading ladies, Karishma Kapoor is and Bollywood’s current heart-throb Ranbir Kapoor are Prithviraj’s great grandkids.

Most generations of actresses in one family:
Kajol, who has starred in DDLJ, one of the top box office successes is one of the three generation of Bollywood actresses. Her mother Tanuja and Aunt Nutan were both leading actresses in 60’s while her grandmother Shobhana Samarth starred in numerous 1940’s hit films.
