Chirping Goodbye to Twitter’s Iconic Bird

Ever since taking over the social media platform, Elon Musk has made many notable changes, one of which came Sunday as it was announced that the billionaire changed the logo of Twitter. For years, Twitter has been recognized by the iconic white bird on the light blue background that is linked to the whistling sound that is played to signal a twitter notification.

Now Musk says the bird will be replaced by a black and white X with the left line as a slanted rectangle. The X is supposed to signal that this platform is used more for that just tweeting, but instant messaging and making payments as well. The billionaire also said that this change should have come a long time ago, but they are just now getting to it.

This news is coming after the company recently implemented the 600 tweet limit, where users are only allowed to see 600 tweets per day. When surpassed, the app blocks content saying that the limit has been reached.

The other big change was ending the free verification status of influential accounts for companies and celebrities. People must now pay to have a subscription for the check marks now, which has also caused some controversy.

Twitter is also seeing some competition from fellow social media company Meta, which recently came out with their own version of twitter called Threads. The app is connected to user’s Instagram and transfers their followers and following. Unlike its rival, it does not have a limit on the amount threads a user can see. Whether or not Threads will replace Twitter remains to be seen, but as for right now, users will have to adjust to seeing to the X where the bird should be.
