Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr debut on hold

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo’s much-awaited debut for his new club has now gone on hold after Al Nassr exceeded the foreign player quota. Ronaldo is also serving a two-match ban handed to him by FA for improper and violent conduct. Ronaldo completed his transfer to Al Nassr a couple of days back on a 2-year deal with the club paying £175 million in fees.

When he was unveiled with great fanfare on Tuesday, the 37-year-old said he was keen to play as soon as possible, starting with Thursday’s home game against Al Ta’ee.

Ronaldo was expected to make his Al Nassr debut against Al Ta’ee. However, the club official who did not wish to be named said that the club is yet to register the Portuguese skipper’s name because there is no vacancy for a foreign player. The club needs to register Ronaldo by selling or terminating one player’s contract by mutual consent. Follow SpotLife ASIA for the latest news and updates.

Ronaldo’s last appearance came for Portugal against Morocco during the FIFA World Cup 2022 quarterfinal match. The forward did not start that game but was introduced as a substitute in the second half.
