Irrfan Khan speaks about India’s Digital Platform
Out of the many Bollywood actors who have made is big in the West, Irrfan Khan remains one of the most reckoned! In recent times, Irrfan has a web series titled ‘Tokyo Trial’ to his credit. In the historic drama, Irrfan plays a Calcutta judge who is summoned to Tokyo to execute a trial in the wake of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.
Though Irrfan is himself a part of an international web series, he thinks that online streaming platforms in India have a blurred future. Speaking his mind, Irrfan said, “Humare paas web series banane ke liye talent nahin hai (We don’t have the talent to make a web series); it’s the bitter truth.”
Calling production houses business-minded, “They are neither passionate nor have the understanding of a good story. We will not be able to deliver a world-class web series since such projects are born purely from passion.” – adds Irrfan Khan
“Earlier, directors used to think of ways to break into Hollywood. Today, one can sit in India and make a world class product. But we are taking it lightly by making stupid comedies. I doubt if we will be able to cash in on the digital platform,” continues Irrfan.
Irrfan will be next seen in a comedy drama titled ‘Hindi Medium’. Alongside Irrfan, the film also stars Pakistani actress Saba Qamar. Directed by Saket Chaudhary, the film will soon hit theaters on May 12.
