Jaya, the "Other Bachchan"

Were used to seeing news about Big B, Junior Bachchan and Ash on a constant bases, but what about the mortar that holds it all together?  We’re talking about Mother Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan.

She won million of hearts with her bubbly and innocent looks in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s ‘Guddi’, and continued to be one of the most talented and celebrated actresses of her time.  Jaya Bachchan turns 67 today, April 9th and we wish her a Very Happy Birthday!

Jaya Bachchan’s connection with Bollywood is since 1963, when she was just 15 years old and made her film debut with Satyajit Ray’s ‘Mahanagar’. Married to megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya’s first movie with Big B was ‘Bansi Birju’ in 1972 and the duo married in 1973.

Padma Shri Jaya Bachchan is also an active Rajya Sabha MP, who is often vocal about women centric issues. She has also received many awards recognizing her talents and contribution in Bollywood.
