Kangana Ranaut to play The Tragedy Queen – Meena Kumari?

Kangana Ranaut has been roped in to play yesteryears actress Meena Kumari in Director Tigmanshu Dhulia’s biopic that will be based on an adaptation ‘Meena Kumari: The Classic Biography’ by late Journalist Vinod Mehta.

The acclaimed actress for her latest film ‘Queen’, Ranaut is hoping to accommodate the film in August- September. We should hear the virdict soon. Many times Ranaut had been compared to the tragedy queen Meena Kumari, who was a well know celebrity in 50s and 60s. She was well known for her roles in Pakeezah, Chhoti Bahu, Sahib Bibi Aur Gulam, Chitralekha and may more. Kumari’s real life and prosperous career were accompanied by heavy drinking, troubled relationships, deteriorating health and eventually led to death at early age of 39 due to liver cirrhosis (in 1972).

Ranaut is busy shooting another film but seems to be excited about role offered by Tigmanshu Dhulia.
