Super 30 Movie Trailer

The movie references Mahabharata where Eklavya, a superior archer to Arjun was denied education by Dronacharya, furthermore he was asked to sacrifice his thumb so there could be no competition to Arjun, who was a Kings son and deserved to have no competition. This, sadly was the state of education where rich had access to the best coaching, colleges and poor had to struggle in most cases. Also being the premise the movie, a real life story of Anand Kumar. Follow Spotlife Asia for the latest Lifestyle and Entertainment news.

The movie begins in Patna, Bihar where Anand Kumar(Hrithik Roshan) a math wizard hailing from a poor family is struggling for opportunity and seeking sponsorship to help him go to Cambridge University and further his education. Anand’s  father Rajendra Kumar (Virendra Saxena) is of the belief that times have changed and no longer will the heir of a King become a king, it will be the more worthy that will wear the crown. It’s with this belief his father tries to reach out to every source possible and gather money for his sons education, but to no avail.

Finally with no option in hand, Anand Kumar is forced to sell papad on his bicycle to earn his family a living. It is here he meets a man riding in a luxurious car, who recognizes the math wizard Anand from an award ceremony he was present in. Luring Anand with Money he convinces him to join the teaching staff of his coaching class Excellence, with an intention provide high level education to the rich kids and help them crack the Indian Institute of Technology Entrance exam, a class poor had no access to or resources to join.

The first of half of the movie is fast paced and revolves around Anand’s Journey from not having access to pursue higher education to joining the class as coaching staff ,making the narrative engaging to watch. There are some scenes between Anand and his father which will make your eyes moist and make feel for the characters and their stories.

But it is the second half where the true story unfolds in a rather entertaining and interesting manner. The Super 30 Class which Anand Kumar begins when his conscience directs him in the right direction. A coaching class where he provides free of cost education to 30 students hailing from poorer sections of the society but all capable and interested in becoming educated professionals in varied fields.

There are some scenes in the second half however which may seem a wee bit dramatic and over the top, also stretching the length by 15 mins or so. But superlative acting and a real life story which not only needed to be heard but also acted upon in the society we live in makes up for these trivial flaws.

Ritu Rashmi (Mrunal Thakur) as Anand Kumar’s love interest does a decent job in the scenes that are presented to her. She is ably supported by Devraj (Pankaj Tripathi) who plays a local minister and as always does a fine job in some of the critical scenes of the movie. Lallan Singh (Aditya Shrivastava) as CEO of Excellence Coaching Class and Rajendra Kumar (Virendra Saxena) give standout performances in the respective brief roles. Amit Sadh as Journalist Raghunath too is appreciable in a special appearance.
But the backbone of the movie is Hrithik Roshan and his portrayal of the character Amit Kumar. Hrithik single handedly succeds in bringing our the right emotions in the extremely emotional scenes, almost moving you to tear more than once.

Super 30, being a biopic on the life of Amit Kumar is a story which resonates with the society we live in and how desperately we need more super heroes like Amit himself to make it a fair playing ground for all kids seeking Education. With superlative performances by Hrithik and his supporting cast and impressive direction by Vikas Bahl, this is one story that needs to be seen on the big screen. A must watch.
