Preeta Sukhtankar, a Mumbai based marketing professional combined all her experiences in media and branding to start a unique e-commerce company, The Label Corp, in India that taps into the expertise of celebrities and aims to build India’s first ‘editorial’ e-commerce brand.

What makes The Label Corp stick out is that each line, The Trunk Label, The Closet Label and The Home Label, is developed and led by a celebrity expert. “My celeb brand partners are pioneers in their respective fields,” she says, be it Suzanne Khan, partner at The Home Label (The Label Corp’s home decor brand), Bipasha Basu who heads The Trunk Label (The Label Corp’s shoes and accessories brand) or Malaika Arora Khan, partner at The Closet Label (The Label Corp’s clothes brand). All of these powerful women have carved a niche for themselves in the industry and evolved in their understanding of style and fashion over the years.

Home was the first category Preeta launched. Suzanne was an obvious choice for her, considering she was an expert interior designer. That was how The Home Label came about. After that we knew we wanted to do clothing, but not just any kind of clothing.

Preeta used to be Malaika’s producer at MTV so the had many years of relationship at personal level. When they thought about clothing, they wanted to do everyday casuals. Malaika was her first choice for clothing because she came into the industry when stars did not have a barrage of makeup artists, but whenever you look at her she always is stylish.

With Bipasha, it was a lot easier, since over the past year, they had more or less established their reputation.

By the time they approached Bipasha, she had already seen the team work and she was convinced about the idea immediately.

Though there maybe more celebrities joining in the future for now all the best to the trio celeb in their new fashion and lifestyle undertaking.
