Recap of the NFL’s week 10

Buccs win first NFL game in Germany, Vikings defeat Bills in all-time classic, Raiders struggles continue, Rodgers leads Packers comeback over Cowboys

Another exciting week of NFL football passes as we look back on this whirlwind of a week ten. As we approach week ten, we begin to see teams turn their seasons around from the depths of an unsuccessful season or see the exact opposite as a team concedes their season with eyes set on their upcoming draft position. Week ten provided a mixture of the two with surprising performances and utterly disappointing ones, perhaps some leading to emotional responses.

Finally, after 102 seasons, the NFL makes their highly anticipated debut in Germany as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off against the Seattle Seahawks. German fans were in for a treat watching the ‘G.O.A.T.’, Tom Brady, lead his Bucs to a convincing 21-16 victory in a typical Tom Brady fashion throwing for two touchdowns, one finding all-time great wide receiver, Julio Jones.

Geno Smith and the Seahawks still put up a fight giving a desperate effort towards the later stage of the match bringing it to a one score game. Smith’s surprising command of Seattle’s offense with the help of receivers D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett this year was not enough to catapult Seattle past the determined Brady and his Bucs.

The Bucs win keeps them atop the NFC South and gave the German NFL fans a great first game to experience in their home country. After the game concluded, Brady admitted that after his illustrious twenty-three years in the league that playing in Germany yesterday was one of the best experiences he’s ever had between the white lines.

The seven wins and one loss Minnesota Vikings came to play in this one for the ages that left Buffalo fans disappointed and NFL fans jaws dropped. After a surprising defeat in the hands of the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium last Sunday, the Buffalo Bills were up for an even bigger task hosting the red-hot Vikings. It also did not help that franchise Buffalo quarterback, Josh Allen, was suffering from a sprained elbow concluding the week nine loss to the Jets yet continued to play against the Vikings. His elbow pain showed on the field as Allen threw two interceptions in the endzone during pivotal moments of the game to none other than future hall of fame corner back Patrick Peterson.

Allen’s struggles were not the only reason Minnesota was able to hang on. The Vikings quarterback, Kirk Cousins, couldn’t stay away from throwing the ball to his favorite target, wide receiver Justin Jefferson, with every chance he had. Jefferson’s ability to take over the game when he needed to, catching passes in the most improbable ways, continuing to find a way to keep the Vikings alive, gave this team the chance to win in Orchard Park. Cousins to Jefferson was on full display and dominated the Bills secondary leading them to a road victory cementing themselves as real Super Bowl contenders. Allen’s key mistakes, including the fumbled snap in the endzone giving the Vikings the opportunity to win in overtime was very shocking and unlike the clutch play we have seen from Allen’s elite career in the past.

Bills Mafia needs to get to the bottom of Allen’s recent uncharacteristic struggles before it gets worse because their division has caught up to them, as the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets now hop above them in the AFC East standings leaving the Bills in third place.

As if things couldn’t have gotten worse in Las Vegas for the miserable two wins and six loss Raiders, yet they somehow did. In conclusion of week nine’s dreadful defeat to the New England Patriots, the Indianapolis Colts parted ways with head coach Frank Reich, naming former Colt all-pro center, Jeff Saturday their interim coach. Saturday’s hiring left many confused with the Colts front office decision as Saturday’s never coached a game in his life.

Well, the decision proved to be right as Saturday lead the Colts into Vegas and willed his men to victory passed the unmotivated and frustrated crew led by Josh McDaniels. McDaniels arrival in Vegas came with a bit of reluctance due to his unsuccessful past as head coach with the Denver Broncos yet many believed he would be able to grow and learn from those mistakes. It appears McDaniels has not learned much since his last head coaching stint as this Raiders squad has managed to get to week ten with a significantly disappointing record even with all the offensive firepower at his disposal. Sunday’s loss to the Colts was a cherry on top of McDaniels epic failure with this Raiders team.

Time and time again they continue to lose games that are in the palm of their hands and let it go in the second half. Carr’s ability to find Adams is not the issue clearly as Davante Adams performed terrific in the loss. It seems it is up to Mark Davis to decide when enough is enough, whether that means Carr or Mcdaniels absence next season.

Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers were in desperation mode going into this week ten matchup against the powerhouse Dallas Cowboys. With the record of three wins and six losses, it was imperative that Rodgers finally get on the same page with his young receivers and utilize them in effective ways which ended up coming to fruition this week.

Rodgers was able to connect with rookie wide receiver, Christian Watson, numerous times, finding him on two deep ball touchdowns which was exactly what the doctor ordered for this struggling Packers offense. Cowboys quarterback, Dak Prescott, was able to find Cee Dee Lamb for two touchdowns yet his interceptions ultimately came back to bite him in the end costing the Cowboys a road victory for their head coach, Mike Mccarthey, who would have loved a W against his former team in Lambeau Field. Yet, Rodgers looked much like his vintage self not only firring dimes on a wire to his receivers vertically but also coming back from down fourteen in the fourth quarterback.

Rodgers will have to continue the chemistry he has found with Watson to help bring the Pack and their cheese heads back into the playoff hunt.

Week ten brought exciting story lines and plays to our laps this Monday morning but no headline was greater than the performance of Buffalo and Minnesota to put on the game they did. What many believe to be the game of the year was a classic for all ages and will be remembered with the great games in history.
