Spring Cruise 2023 – a review of MSC cruise line

Spring break is my favorite time of year. Whether you are taking a break from school, work, or just life, this break allows you to relax, unwind, and rejuvenate.

This year I went on my first-ever cruise. During the six-hour drive down to the coastal port off Orlando, I became uneasy. What if I get motion sickness? What if the weather is bad? What if I get
bored? What if it’s nothing like I imagined it would be?

All of these questions were answered when I went to bed in my 150-by-180-foot windowless cabin. Everything was going to be just fine.

As far as sea sickness, I was more than okay. I brought Dramamine (which prevents and treats motion sickness) and balance bands that you place on the pressure points on your wrist. I never had to use either of these once, and I have a sensitive stomach.

My other concern was feeling claustrophobic in our minuscule stateroom and/or running out of things to do on the ship. Luckily, our cabin was bigger than we were expecting, and we spent so little time in there that the size of the room was irrelevant. Similarly, we only had two days at sea on the boat and there was always something to do. Tan by the pool, relax at the spa, day drink, experience the waterpark on board, play your luck at the casino, join in on the staff-led games (trivia, bingo, etc.), and so much more. If you plan to bring kids on board, they will have more than enough things to do to keep them entertained.

I was jealous of all the activities when I passed through the ‘kid zone’ on the boat. The destinations themselves were absolutely breathtaking. We travelled to the Nassau, Bahamas, MSC marine reserve, Costa Maya and Cozumel Mexico. There were an abundant of excursions to choose from ranging from ATVing on the beach to swimming with dolphins. Make sure to get off the boat as soon as you dock, because you only get one day in these beautiful places!

All in all, my favorite part of the cruise was the nighttime. Being younger, we were given the 9:30pm dinner time. It was at the same restaurant every night, but the menu changed completely. After dinner, we would go straight to the pool deck to watch karaoke. The back pool deck always had a live DJ, so if you wanted some late-night fun, you could venture back there. My only regret was somehow ending up at the roulette table in the casino every night.

I was a cruise virgin two weeks ago, and now I know I will be a regular cruiser for the rest of my life. It was extremely cheap for what we got from it (free food, Wi-Fi, and drinks). If you are stuck on what to do for spring break, check out the MSC cruises website and explore the endless possibilities a cruise ship can offer.
