The Cheapest Travel Destinations in the US
Going on vacation doesn’t always have to be expensive and glamorous. There are many cities and destinations in the United States that can create a meaningful experience without blowing a hole through your pocket.
For instance, camping can be the most efficient way to save money when traveling. Booking hotels/stays is often the largest expense when vacationing. Places like The Grand Canyon, Grand Teton National Park, or Gatlinburg, Tennessee are great places to pitch a tent. But If a tent in the wilderness isn’t quite up your alley, you can rent RVs online for on average $50-250 a day according to prices on outdoorsy.com.
While camping, you can enjoy activities like hiking, swimming, rock-climbing, roasting smores, and a lot more for free. If you pack food ahead of time, you can make all your own meals, saving even more money. Many Americans love camping for the simple fact that you can enjoy nature and breathtaking views while not constantly spending money.
If mountains and hiking aren’t your version of a relaxing vacation, take a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Daytona Beach, Florida or Virginia Beach, Virginia. These beach towns have a lot to do outside of just sand and the ocean. They’re great for families, couples, and singles. You can find hotels for less than $75 a night depending on the season you’re traveling during. Just make sure you get up to watch the sunrise over the ocean, because It’s absolutely stunning.
Now, if beaches nor mountains are your thing, the USA has some impressive cities worth visiting. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is famous for historical sites, great food, and fun bars (all within a reasonable price range). Independence hall is the most famous site in Philly, where the Declaration of Independence and the constitution were discussed and adopted.
Charleston, South Carolina is one of my favorite cities in the world. The streets and shops are full of Southern Charm, the beaches are the best in the state, and the restaurant/bar scene is perfect for a good time. Make sure to visit the City Market and Rainbow Row when you go, two of the most popular sites in the city. If you don’t plan on shopping, you won’t have to spend much during your visit to Charleston.
Vacations can always seem to be overwhelming and expensive, but if you research beforehand, you can find the perfect destination on a budget. Sometimes, the smaller towns and more unique places make the most memories.
