The Resurgance of The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games is making a resurgence this year with Netflix adding all four movies to its digital collection; however, there is a catch. With the 11th anniversary of the first film’s debut in 2012, fans have been eager to jump right back into the classic dystopian world.

The movies are based on the trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that follows heroine Katniss Everdeen, played by award winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, in her journey to survive the games where children from the 12 districts of Panem are forced to fight each other to the death for the entertainment of the upper class. This book was a trailblazer for dystopian fiction with series like Divergent and Maze Runner following in its footsteps.

With its domination of the Netflix Top 10, The Hunger Games have been trending all over social media once again. Taylor Swift also recently re-recorded two of her songs Safe and Sound and Eyes Open that are featured in the first movie, so fans have been able to enjoy both the film and soundtrack just in time for spring break. The combo is bringing back the nostalgia from a decade ago for many fans.

However, there is a catch, but it’s not fire. Netflix announced that the movies will only be available for a month before it gets taken off in April, so viewers are advised to enjoy the movies while they can. In its place, Netflix has announced that the original Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire will be coming in April as well as many other films, so that is something to look forward to.
