Varun Dhawan battles with Vestibular Hypofunction

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan recently revealed his battle with a medical condition called vestibular hypofunction, a medical condition that is caused by defects in the inner ear.

The condition is an imbalance problem caused by the inner ear which is a complex system of bone, cartilage, and a network of semi-circular canals filled with liquid. The fluid flow pattern changes with movements. A person suffering from the disorder might experience dizziness, vertigo and develop poor balance.

Dhawan said that during the filming of a recent film, he pushed himself ‘too hard’ and put ‘too much pressure on himself’ and ended up suffering from this problem. He also how it felt like he was ‘running for elections’. He further emphasized on the need to find the ‘greater purpose’ in life. 

“Recently, I just shut down. I didn’t know what had happened to me. I had this thing called vestibular hypofunction, (where) basically your balance goes off. But I just pushed myself so hard. We are just running in this race, nobody is asking why,” shared Dhawan.
