Wendy Glenn, from Hollywood to Bollywood
Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Irrfan Khan have worked for films in the West while many actors from there have also appeared in Bollywood films like ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Kambakkht Ishq’, ‘Lagaan’ etc.
Now it is the turn of British actress Wendy Glenn to make her debut in Bollywood. The actress has appeared in American
National Film Award winning director Onir’s upcoming film ‘Veda’, a contemporary adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play ‘Hamlet’ will mark Wendy’s debut in the Indian film industry.
“It is such a pleasure to be working with Onir, my co-actors, Bhavna and the team, and on such an amazing script. It has been a great experience so far, I cannot wait for the next schedule in India and to experience the magic that is India for the first time,” Wendy said in a statement.
The director of ‘My Brother…Nikhil’ was all praises for Wendy and said the actress immersed herself in her character.
“Wendy is a phenomenal actor and we are so happy to have her as part of the film. She immerses herself in the character, which is such a wonderful quality. She is as stunning a person as she is as an actor,” Onir said. The maker of award winning film ‘I Am’ also said ‘Veda’ was very close to his heart.
“We have just completed the Manchester schedule of the film which has been a great experience and looking forward to the next schedule, working with my actors and team,” the director said
‘Veda’ is the first Bollywood movie to have been extensively shot at Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon.
The movie was launched and announced by the former UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg last year. ‘Veda’ is expected to release in 2016.
