Living in a Barbie World

It’s a Barbie World and we’re just living in it.

It’s fitting that Barbie has had virtually every career imaginable because she has once again taken over the world. With the recent release of the teaser trailer for “Barbie,” fans and the general public alike are excited for the film’s release in July starring Margot Robbie as Barbie. Other stars in the cast include Ryan Gosling as Ken, Simu Liu, Dua Lipa, Anne Hathaway, and Will Ferrell.

The movie will include classic Barbie aspects like her dream house and her convertible car, not to mention her signature pink displayed throughout. It will also highlight Barbie and Ken’s love story as seen in the teaser.

This movie will join the iconic barbie universe that covers a range of different media. From Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper to Barbie of Swan Lake, the Barbie movies have marked their territory in the movie industry since the early 2000s. Within these movies, Barbie has come in the form of princesses, mermaids, fairies, pop stars, and several others.

Aside from the movies, there have been several different TV shows based on Barbie as well, one of which is Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse that takes the audience on short classic Barbie stories that feature characters like her boyfriend Ken, his rival Ryan who would do anything for Barbie’s attention, Ryan’s sister Raquelle who is jealous of Barbie, and other friends like Midge and Teresa. The series also features Barbie’s sisters Skipper, Stacie, and Chelsea. Chelsea even has has her own spin-off show called Barbie & Chelsea The Lost Birthday.

The two biggest changes the new Barbie movie is bringing to the industry is that it is the first live action Barbie movie or show to hit the big screens as well as being the first Barbie movie to be rated PG-13 instead of for young or general audiences. Barbie fans are excited for humor in the film among other things. The film hits theaters on July 21.
