The Disappearance of Malaysian Flight 370

Have you ever heard of the Malaysian airline flight 370 carrying 227 passengers that disappeared into thin air? One of the most mind-boggling conspiracies of all time now has an in-depth documentary on Netflix.

Here is an overview of what happened on March 8, 2014.

Flight 370 took off from the Malaysian airport at around 12:45 Am, heading towards its destination of Beijing, China. There were no reports of malfunction or bad weather. The plane was expected to touch down at 6:30 Am Beijing local time.

The last transmitted position of the plane was sent at 1:07 AM. The last contact was at 1:19 a.m. When the pilot said, “Good night, Malaysian three seven zero,” (History.com, 2023). At the time this was a normal thing to say to air traffic control, but now, nine years later this message has come across as very eerie.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. the flight was reported missing. The plane had initially lost contact over the gulf of Thailand, so that is where the search began. The theory was the plane had a technical problem and crashed into the sea.

On March 15th investigators discovered that the plane actually made a sharp turn and began traveling back in the direction it came from and flew for over 5 hours in the Indian ocean. More than 25 countries joined in on the search for this mysterious missing commercial airline. People all over the world were not only shocked but captivated by what happened to this plane.

After a few months, the new theory was that the plane ran out of fuel after flying on autopilot for hours.
The question then was, who put the plane on autopilot?

Speculation circulated that one of the pilots could have committed a murder-suicide mission. Between the years of 2015 and 2016 debris was found on beaches on the western side of the Indian ocean. But the plane has still yet to be found.

Conspiracies have circled around this mystery for years. Are the passengers still alive somewhere?
Was this a planned attack?
Are there people out there that know what happened to flight 370?

We can only hope that answers arise for the sake of the families of the victims on board. The ocean is vast, but surely in our lifetime we will find Malaysian flight 370 and find the truth about what happened on March 8, 2014
